Q: In Crystal Reports, I've connected to the Biotics 5 database successfully, but no Tables are being displayed. Instead, I'm getting some other garbled-gook that I don't recognize!
And this may happen with an existing report which you are trying to update that worked absolutely fine previously.
A: Since Biotics 5 was upgraded to Oracle 12c, the previously used connection type (Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle) via OLE DB (ADO) no longer connects to the Tables/Views within the Biotics 5 database, but oddly the Functions. This makes adding a new table to an existing report or creating a new report difficult, to put it mildly! Instead, use the Oracle Provider for OLE DB option within the OLE DB (ADO) connection type, which does successfully connect to the tables/views.
